Information Required to Route a Proposal through the University

Routing Form

This will be prepared by the Department. It must include the following:

  • Title
  • Agency including contact name's information and address
  • PI's and Co-PI's percent credit
  • Start date and project duration
  • Budget numbers
  • Abstract (150 words or less)

Cover Letter (if required)

Some agencies require a cover letter that must include certain information.

Statement of Work

This should follow the agency's formatting guidelines. It should also include any deliverables required during the project period.

Budget

PI will work with Sharron or if she is unavailable, JoAnn,to develop an appropriate budget. The budget will typically include the following:

  • Salaries (based on percent of effort) PI, other professionals, FRAs and/or GRAs, hourlies
  • Fringe Benefits (none for undergraduate students 8% for 9 month faculty and 25% for all other positions)
  • Tuition Remission for graduate students (Maximum of 24 credits per academic year and summer)
  • Equipment
  • Travel (Domestic and Foreign)
  • Supplies
  • Consultants
  • Publication Costs
  • Computer Access Lab Fees (CALF) REQUIRED
  • Facilities and Administrative Costs (Currently 50% On-Campus Rate, 26% Off-Campus Remote Rate if more than 50 mile commute from College Park campus, 27.5% Off Campus Adjacent Rate if less than 50 mile commute from College Park campus, 38.5% On-Campus Other Sponsored Activity Rate for those projects that do not include research or instruction components, 26% Off-Campus Other Sponsored Activity Rate for those projects that do not include research or instruction components)

Budget Justification

This should follow the agency's formatting guidelines. It should be specific regarding equipment, travel, and supplies.

Current and Pending Support (if required)

Agency guidelines should be followed regarding content and formatting.

Supplemental Attachments

Some agencies may require supplemental items to be included in your proposal. These may include documents such as Data Management Plan, Postdoctoral Researcher Mentoring Plan, or other items as requested by the agency.
